The Founder's Journey
Meet Risper Wamuyu Rwengo, a petroleum engineering graduate who faced the harsh reality of unemployment after graduation. Instead of giving up, she turned to the soil and reclaimed her future through farming.
"When other doors closed, I turned to the soil and reclaimed my future through farming."
— Risper Wamuyu Rwengo, Founder & LeadStarting with just a quarter-acre, Risper's passion and determination led her to build a successful 10-acre agribusiness. She realized that many young Kenyans faced the same challenges she did — lack of access to capital, limited mentorship, and disconnected markets. This realization sparked the birth of Kilimo Sasa, an innovative cooperative model designed to empower the next generation of agripreneurs.
Our Vision
To rebrand farming as a smart, dignified, and youth-driven profession.
We envision a Kenya where agriculture is seen as a viable career path for young people, where innovation meets tradition, and where smallholder farmers can thrive through collective action and modern practices.
Our Mission
To empower young people through access to mentorship, flexible capital, and guaranteed markets.
We provide comprehensive support that transforms smallholder farming from a struggle for survival into a pathway to prosperity. Through our cooperative model, we ensure that every farmer has the tools, knowledge, and opportunities needed to succeed.
The Meaning of Our Name
Kilimo means "Agriculture" in Swahili, representing our deep connection to the land and farming traditions of Kenya.
Sasa means "Now" — a statement of both urgency and hope. It's a call to action for young people to embrace agriculture today, not tomorrow. It's also a promise of immediate impact and transformation.
Together, Kilimo Sasa represents our commitment to transforming agriculture in Kenya right now, empowering the next generation of farmers to build sustainable livelihoods and contribute to food security.
